Grab a tomato with your real hand, wind up, and throw. Crows dodge. Crows change course. Crows land on the rows and start eating if you leave them alone. Every throw is a decision: block the one diving in, or chase off the one already feeding?

Charge a fruit to make it burst. Hold it long enough before you throw and it detonates in mid-air, sweeping a whole cluster — but charging is slow, and the crows do not wait.
