Right the Vote

Everyone deserves to have their voices heard. But there have been more than 400 anti-voter bills introduced in 48 states that have unfairly impacted a wide range of communities resulting in a fractured democracy that doesn’t fully represent the desires of the people.

Inspired by online stories collected from #wevotewecount of first-hand experiences of voter suppression, we aim to create an educational narrative that highlights both deliberate and less noticeable strategies that local governments employ to make the voting process frustratingly difficult.

As a 2021 Oculus Launch Pad grant recipient, Right the Vote, is an educational game that showcases the realities of voter suppression.

You play as James who lives with his partner, Hailey and is ineligible to vote because of her alleged criminal record. As you leave your home to cast your ballot, you are met with characters that reflect the contentious nature of the election along with various obstacles that resemble voter suppression strategies often seen in the real world.
