In this interactive virtual reality experience, you’ll unlock cosmic conundrums, dive into the history of astronomy and get as close as humanly possible to one of the southern hemisphere’s most powerful and sensitive radio telescopes- the MeerKat telescope, the precursor to the Square Kilometre Array. You might even detect if there’s extraterrestrial life on distant planets.

Starting with an engaging and interactive meeting with the master of the optical telescope, Galileo Galilee, you’ll get to use your very own telescope to focus on distant planets, all before jumping into a space pod and travelling through an intergalactic masterpiece. As you land in the majestic Karoo desert, you’ll be taken on a tour of the MeerKat and have a behind-the-scenes tour of the master control room. Until now, only approved scientific personnel have been allowed to get close to the MeerKat antennae and enter the control room where all the magic happens. In this epic adventure, you get to capture some essential data that the world’s top scientists have used to decipher the most recent astronomical discoveries and maybe even find the answer to some of the key science questions in modern astrophysics, like how did galaxies form, how are they evolving, how did we come to be here?
