Ancestral Secret VR is a groundbreaking Virtual Reality documentary that takes young audiences on a 20-minute journey into the worldview and ancestral rituals of the Q’ero Nation of Peru, the last Incas alive.

Description

This encounter immerses the user in the magnificent landscape of the Q’ero community, in the heights of the Vilcanota mountain range. After asking permission to enter the mountain, “the visitor” begins a virtual flight through the peaks until arriving at Q’eros. Women weavers, ritual keepers, and the community’s members greet the visitor warmly, sharing a message for global dissemination.

During this journey, the visitor travels through the three Andean worlds: the celestial world (Hanan Pacha), the here-and-now world (Kay Pacha) and the underworld (Ukhu Pacha). The visitor attends different rituals such as the coca leaf pijcha, the Andean offering, the weaving of looms and sacred chants.

By interacting with the k’intu (a set of three coca leaves), the visitor begins to transit between the physical reality of the Q’ero and their sacred dimension. Through animation, their worldview, ancestral customs, and connection with nature are brought into view. In this sacred reality, the spirits that inhabit nature are revealed. The visitor becomes aware that everything is alive and intertwined.
